“What is teen acne and its most common cause?” asked Patricia, concerned about her kids’ Chris and Cheryl’s recurring acne. She had basic knowledge, but ever since her kids had become more withdrawn and self-conscious due to their acne, Patricia decided to get more knowledge on the matter.

“Teen acne is a skin condition that causes bumps on the face, back, and chest. They appear as whiteheads, blackheads, pimples, cysts or pustules”, said Dr. Alex Bentley, M.D, a certified dermatologist.

Leaning back in his chair, he further explained, “The skin’s sebaceous glands produce a natural moisturizer called sebum. It is actually good for the skin, acting as a protectant and lubricant. But excess sebum can clog the hair follicles or pores, making the skin there ‘sticky’ and difficult to shed. The bumps that you see on the skin are actually a combination of sebum, bacteria, and dead skin cells within the clogged pore”.

“The main contributing factors are usually hormones and genes. Chris, the inflammation on your skin tells me you spend too much time in the sun, and this can make you susceptible to breakouts. Also, Cheryl, you must be aware that using too much makeup can aggravate acne, especially if you happen to sleep with it.”

As the two teenagers nodded, he asked, “Tell me, Do they pick on the acne or pop pimples? Because from the scars I see on their faces, that’s probably the case.” adds Dr. Bentley.

Patricia says, “Not that I know of. Most doctors usually suggest topical creams, gels and lotions and oral acne medication such as antibiotics, all of which are effective but for only a short time.”

Cheryl interrupted, “Dr. Bentley, isn’t there anything that we can do? I am so embarrassed about it and really need a long-term solution.”

“Actually, I do. It’s a very effective and dermatologically tested treatment option – Gerovital Stop Acne blackheads patches.” Dr. Bentley said.

Titanium Dioxide – absorbs excess sebum and provides a mattifying effect.

The result is immediately visible; skin is left looking and feeling clean and refreshed.

The anatomical shape and the special soft fabric ensure an easy and effective use. Blackheads remain attached to the surface of the strip, being removed along with it.

“How do these strips work, doctor?” Patricia asked, intrigued.

“The strips are infused with two main active ingredients glycolic acid and titanium oxide. Glycolic acid works by purifying skin on contact removing impurities, excess oil, and targets blackheads specifically, while titanium oxide absorbs excess sebum, providing a matt effect. It is paraben-free, so no irritation, also continued use can reduce sebum up to 48%,” replied Dr. Bentley

“Sounds interesting, but how are these strips to be used?” asked Patricia.

Dr. Bentley replied, “They are very easy to use. You just need to apply it on a clean face with no traces of cream, lotion, or make-up. Remember to moisten the affected area, and apply the strip on wet skin with the glossy side facing the skin. Just remember that the skin needs to be properly wet; otherwise, the strip may not stick well and may not be as effective.”

He continued, “Leave it for 10-15 minutes to dry, gently remove it from the edges. Blackheads will remain attached to the surface of the strip. The shape and special soft fabric of the strips ensure safe and easy use. The result of using these strips will be clearly visible immediately. Once you rinse the skin with lukewarm water, you will find your skin looking fresh and clear.”

“Thank you, doctor, for the innovative prescription. I am going to have the kids try these as soon as I get home,” said Patricia before leaving with a satisfied smile on her face.
